Are You Wearing The Badge of Busyness

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
- Exodus 14:14

But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions then stand still and watch the Lord's victory. He is with you...do not be afraid or discouraged...for the Lord is with you!"
- 2 Chronicles 20:17

Have you ever wondered why God said "be still and know that  I am God"? Why in Psalm 27 did the Psalmist say "wait for The Lord. Be strong and take heart and wait on The Lord"?

When I look around and see the frantic, hurried lifestyles we all lead I believe that one of satan's greatest lies is that a hurried schedule is a badge that should be worn with pride.

Think about your conversations and those around you..."so John how's it going?" "Crazy! We have this and that and the kids are doing this and that and we barely have time to stop and breathe. I can't remember the last time I even sat down to eat." This is a normal conversation when catching up with folks. And the sad thing is we say it with pride as if the more frantic our schedules, the more important or successful we must be.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to set the enemy on his heels the next time we have this exchange and say something like "things are crazy. With all we have going on the only thing that keeps me sane and our family together is God's word and our time we make as a priority to spend in quiet with Him and the sharing we make as a priority at our table. I don't know how anyone can survive without it." But to say this you have to believe it AND LIVE IT!

God calls us to be different; to be set apart; to be Holy; to be a light into the world; a city on a hill. Take time to "be still" to "wait upon The Lord." It's amazing what it does for daily perspective and for the strength we need each day to live our life for Him and lead others - including our families - to Him.
